IN DEPTH: SACHIN TENDULKAR

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is the greatest cricketer of all times. He has been with Team India since he was 17 years of age. Sachin Tendulkar was born in the year 1973 and is nicknamed Little Master. Along with one day as well as Test cricket he remains to be one of the top most scorer in the cricket arena.

Sachin Tendulkar is the first ever cricketer in Test Cricket to score fifty centuries and the first to score fifty centuries in all international cricket combined. Sachin Tendulkar has surpassed the record of the most famous cricketer Brian Lara by scoring 12,000, 13,000, 14,000 and 15,000 in that form of the game. Sachin Tendulkar also passed 30,000 runs in international cricket in the year 2009 on November 20th. Again on February 20th, 2010, Sachin Tendulkar was the first cricketer ever to score a double century in a match against South Africa in a One Day International.  He also holds the record of being the first batsman to score 15000 runs in Test Cricket.

Apart from all the number of records that Sachin Tendulkar holds as a cricketer, he also was honoured by the Padma Vibhusan award which is the second highest civilian award given in India. Also the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, India’s highest sporting award was given to him.

Bangladesh, India and Sril Lanka hosted the 2011 World Cup from February to April and Sachin Tendulkar  was India’s lead run score for the tournament. The only batsmen to score more runs thanhim was Tillakaratne. However, India defeated Sril Lanka in the final. Sachin Tendulkar was made the icon player and captain for the home side , the Mumbai Indians during the Indian Premier League Twenty20 in the year 2008. In 2010, Mumbai Indians reached the finals.
