DHONI HAILS HUSSEY

The skipper of Chennai Super Kings, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has lauded Michael Hussey and Suresh Raina for their brilliant knocks in the qualifier 1 match played against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday.

CSK defeated Mumbai Indians by a big margin of 48 runs in that match and cruised into the final of Indian Premier League (IPL) for the fifth time.

In that match, Hussey and Raina scored 86 and 82 respectively and because of the efforts of those two guys, CSK put up a huge score of 192 on the board.

Mumbai couldn’t chase down that huge target and got all out on just 144 runs in 18.4 overs. Jadeja was the stand out performer for CSK with the ball. He gave away 31 runs in his 4 overs and dismissed 3 vital Mumbai batsmen.

Talking to the reporters in the post match press conference, Dhoni said, “The pitch was very good for batting and Mumbai has got a strong batting order. So, during the half time break, I thought we might be 10-15 runs short. But, credit goes to our bowlers for the way they bowled in the middle overs.”

“Jadeja was fantastic today. He provided us crucial breakthroughs. Bravo and Morris also bowled well. It was a good bowling effort by the team.”

When asked about the innings of Hussey and Raina, Dhoni said, “Both were fantastic knocks. Hussey anchored the innings pretty well and Raina gave us the momentum with some big shots. It was a treat to watch both of them going like that. Hopefully, they will blossom in the final as well.”

Despite losing against CSK in qualifier 1, Mumbai Indians have not been knocked out of the competition. They will face either Sunrisers Hyderabad or Rajasthan Royals in qualifier 2 on Friday and the winner of that match will play against CSK in the final on Sunday.

WARNE SLAMS COACH

Shane Warne has said that the former coach of the Australian cricket team, John Buchanan, didn’t know how to coach a team.

Buchanan coached the Australian cricket team for 8 years and during his tenure, the Australian team achieved a lot. They won the World Cup in 2003 and 2007. They won a test series in India after 36 years in 2004 and they also won their first ever Champions Trophy title during that period.

However, Warne believes that Australia’s successes during that period had nothing to do with Buchanan’s presence in the camp. It was such a strong Australian team that it hadn’t needed a coach.

Talking to an Indian news channel, Warne said, “The coaches are needed at junior levels. The international players don’t need someone to tell them how to play a cover drive or how to bowl an out swinger.”

“The Australian team of that era would have had the same amount of success even without a coach because that team had amazing potential. The players like Jason Gillespie, Glenn McGrath, Ricky Ponting and Damien Martin didn’t need to be told anything. They just knew what they had to do.”

Warne announced his retirement from international cricket in 2007 and just after a few months, John Buchanan also resigned from his post. Buchanan is currently working as a coaching director for New Zealand cricket board.

When Warne was asked about the current Australian coach Mickey Arthur, Warne said, “Australia hasn’t played well during his tenure, but, I don’t think he deserves to be blamed for that. We are not winning because we are lacking potential. The coach can do very little about it.”

Mickey Arthur was criticized by a lot of former Australian players when he had decided to ban 4 players from playing in the third test match against India because of not completing a task given by him.
